rat now takes calls from my mother. He can take the yap yap yap yap yap my mother does on the phone with nice little 'okay!', 'okay!' spoken occasionally. I thank God for rat; he keeps me from the insanity named my mother.
Next Sunday is a big family reunion on G and rat's side of the family. I haven't seen some of these people since they were children, and now THEY have children and some of their children have children. Parts of this family breed even worse than rabbits. Blegh. I really don't want to go, but rat wants to go for some reason.
It's odd - he never sends birthday cards or anything like that to his parents or sibs and he never really shows any real inclination to go visit, but all of a sudden he says he wants to see them. Many times, I just let him go without me, mostly because the days they want to meet are the days I am either busy, sick or having to rest up for the next week so I don't miss any days of work because of my crappy body.
So, I am now sitting here with hair dye globs on my roots and feeling like someone has kicked me repeatedly. Going to doll meetups does that to me every time. It is so exciting meeting people and taking photos and it really fucks with my body and stanima.
We have to figure out a day to go out to Scarborough this year, too. We purchased a one-day pass again this time.
My last class meeting is this coming Thursday. It's final projects and sketchbook submission night. I am really concerned about some students who have consistently not turned in one assignment and give me lame excuses for why they didn't turn in work.
Well, I need to check some other stuff out then get this burning goo off my head.
Last Sunday's doll meetup almost killed me (carrying too much weighty stuff for too long) so I felt like someone had repeatedly kicked me on Monday and Tuesday.
Tuesday night, I did the guest lecture at UTDallas, then taught my regular class on Thursday night. For Good Friday, I slept almost the entire day and I am finally feeling a little more functional.
I hate how my body turns against me.
I have also been eating too much every day, which has been strange. I need to stop doing that so I can lose a little more weight.
Did anyone else see the news about how women who have been taking calcium for their osteo have been getting the benefit of losing weight, too? So THAT'S why I have been losing weight despite the fact I haven't been able to do so before because of my lack of a thyroid.
Since I have been teaching my Art and Anime class this semester, one of our teachers has asked me to do a guest lecture at the other school where she teaches. This is happening tonight. She wants me to give her students some manga and anime history as well as show examples. Surprisingly, she also wants me to bring some of my resin dolls to show their modeling benefits.
Another teacher wants me to come to his class at the same school next fall for the same lecture.
The school is the horrid one where I got my degree - how amusing. I would get my masters degree in Arts and Technology there IF they would give me a full scholarship. I refuse to pay for classes - this school is the reason I have permanent costochondritis, carpel tunnel syndrome and other problems. I worked there for 13 years. The first four years, I worked and went to school.
ANYway, I have been prepping for the guest lecture all last week (as well as doing MY class preps) and now otaku is all loaded up with the stuff I need to show. The nine pages of notes are all compiled, too. Last week, we went out to the campus to see if I would be able to plug in otaku into the overhead projecter in the classroom and it worked great.
rat is going to help me carry all the shit to the lecture then come pick me up afterward. It's a three-hour class and I know I will be pushing it to get all the information out. I usually cannot get the info I want to get out to my own students in the two-hour timeslot I have for MY own class!
Today and tomorrow is also my school's computer arts festival, which means I will not get any work done - I will be too busy holding down the lab during all the events. I hope I can get some of my own class's prep done today, too.
And I feel like a truck has run over me. We went to a doll meetup on Sunday and I overextended myself to the point I am now in great pain. Happy Joy.
At least we get a holiday on Friday - I NEED the sleep and my poor body is desperate to just lie down and stay down for vast tracks of time.
Thanks: --> to Lia, my sensei, who has inspired me to draw again. I
wouldn't be doing this without your support, Domo Arigato!
--> to Talon, for sending me her fabulous fics, inspiring me with her writing to draw my first
illustration for a story and actually liking what I drew.
--> to Dasia, for her words of encouragement when drawing her original chara.
--> to Joules, a wonderful epic fic writer, for liking my art enough to want to post them with Talon's
and her own stories.
--> to Lutra, the other half of the epic team, for being so supportive.
--> to Jacque' & Becca Raddittzu, we met on eBay as bidder and sellers and now we are face-to-face
friends. You showed us the real DBZ with your fansubs. It's all your fault the house is full of
doujinshi! *LOL*
